I am very grateful to Joy for bringing Yoga Reflections into my life. In two years of attending Beginner Yoga, just twice a week, I have experienced improved breathing, strength, flexibility and balance. My yoga practice has also been a factor in finally shedding some excess weight, which is hard to do when you reach the age of 70! Yoga has also helped to make the short, gray days of our Michigan winters more cheerful. Joy is a wonderful teacher and her studio is so peaceful and gorgeous! And, my fellow students are the nicest people.
I have enjoying practicing yoga with Joy at Yoga Reflections for the last two years. I find the experience welcoming, comforting and humbling. The benefits have included increased flexibility, strength and balance. I love the non-competitive nature of yoga and the aspect of personal challenge – truly something that can be built upon for a lifetime. Love Yoga Reflections!! It’s a welcoming and peaceful retreat. As an instructor, Joy is “normal”, well trained, and patient. You are gently pushed to do your best, but never pushed to do something you can’t do. Joy is just awesome and there are no head stands on your very first day! I have only been practicing for a little over a year but I feel stronger, longer, leaner and less stressed. Try it, you’ll love it!

The instruction at Yoga Reflections is absolutely phenomenal. It's obvious that Joy is a professional educator, as even I am easily able to follow along in class! I am 67 years old and have participated in yoga for almost two years. Breathing techniques and meditation methods have enriched my life. I participate in the yoga moves at my own speed and am given options for alternate moves when I am not able to complete the more difficult poses.
Everything that I would want from a yoga studio and instructor is exactly what Yoga Reflections embodies. It is a warm, inviting and calm atmosphere; Joy has a very open and peaceful presence that makes you feel comfortable immediately; Joy as an instructor really gets involved with her class…she gives modifications; gives helpful suggestions and will guide you in proper alignment. I used to take Hatha yoga years ago living on the East coast and practiced at home a bit; it was wonderful when I found our little part of SW Michigan had such an amazing studio. I also love her YouTube videos too. Joy truly cares about her students and their yoga practice.
